Dark Room, 1990

36" x 130" installed

cibachrome, colour photograph, photostat, plexiglas, acrylic

Collection of the McIntosh Gallery, London, Ontario

This is a triptych made up of:

a) A photostat made from a still from the film, Family Portrait Sittings, by Alfred Guzetti.

b) A cibachrome made from a photograph taken by photographer Cheryl O'Brien of the plexiglas-covered photostated film still. Her image, reflected in the plexiglas as she shoots the photograph, is seen in the lower left corner.

c) A colour photograph of a mirror with a text overlay on it, taken from the novel, The Lover, by Marguerite Duras. I traced in white acrylic on plexiglas the outline of the mirror's frame. This plexiglas was then mounted over the photostat of the film still.
