The Damage is Done, 1986
49" x 66"
found paintings on Joanne Tod oil painting, silkscreen on Andy Patton oil painting
Private Collection
In this work, three small paintings are hung from screws that puncture the surface of a larger painting.
a) The larger painting, which acts as a support for the three smaller paintings, was painted by Toronto artist Joanne Tod. I asked her to make a painting of a certain size but the image she worked with was her own choice.
b) Two of the small paintings which hang on the Joanne Tod painting are damaged landscapes that I found in a junk shop.
c) The third small painting hangs between the two landscapes. The ground was painted by Toronto artist Andy Patton onto which I had the phrase THE DAMAGE IS DONE commercially silkscreened.
