Private Collection

The first section of the work is made up of a plasticized reproduction of each of the three panels of Paolo Uccello's triptych c.1456 entitled The Rout of San Romano.

The drawing unit consists of:

a) Two gouaches done by my great-uncle, R. Craggs, that are titled The Two Comrades before the Battle and The Two Comrades after the Battle.

b) Between the two gouaches is a colour photograph of the middle panel of Uccello's triptych. Below that is a colour pencil drawing I did that is based on the composition of Uccello's middle panel but uses the style and figures from my great-uncle's gouaches.

The painting unit is a triptych made up of:

a) Two acrylic side panels in which I based the composition on each of the two gouaches but took the style and figures from the side panels of Uccello's triptych.

b) The middle acrylic panel in which I based the composition on the middle panel of The Rout of San Romano but painted the figures in a combination of different 20th century art styles such as Futurism and Cubism.
